English translation:the cranking speed
Explanation:
Well, that's what I'd have expected, though it doesn't appear to make a great deal of sense in relation to detecting the presence of a spark or not...?

Sorry, I really can't suggest/recommend anything else, as I just can't understand what they're getting at here. I don't see how measuring the cranking speed (if that is indeed what they are referring to?) tells you whether there is a spark or not (either the engine fires and runs, or it doesn't...); and it is far from obvious WHICH particular 'position detector' is being referred to, and just how measuring cranking speed would tell you if it was working or not. Either I'm missing something particularly obvious here, or there's something odd going on (perhaps explained in the wider context?)

Thanks again Dusty!
Notes to answerer
Asker: Hi Dusty, the rest of the sentence is "ainsi que le bon fonctionnement du capteur de position", if that helps. Could I use the speed "in starter mode" or something like that?

Asker: OK Dusty, thanks for your help!
