As opposed to "front engined" where the engine is pretty much in front of and above the front wheels, and "rear engined" where it hangs out over the back wheels, as in VW Beetles.
Mid-engined is the preferred design for sports cars since the mass of the motor is between the axles. This avoids the arse end sliding out when cornering, etc., gives you better control generally in slides. |
