French to English translations [PRO] Tech/Engineering - Automotive / Cars & Trucks / Diagnostics of onboard processors
French term or phrase:triggant
Here's the full phrase:
Placer un Muxlog sur IS et CAR, triggant sur la sortie BSM de l’aimentation compresseur.
Any suggestions much appreciated.
TIA Chris.

The transition from one state to the next may take place after a fixed time, after the occurrence of a trigger condition at the binary inputs of the CMC, or after a GPS or IRIG-B trigger (e.g. for synchronized end-to-end testing with multiple CMCs).

Thank you for your efforts on 'triggant' and 'joint delta', having done about 5000 words, the client has just cancelled the project. Ho hum *!!*¤¤ At least I can go to bed early tonight.
That would seem the obvious choice, but does it make sense to trigger on the BSM (whatever that may be) output of the compressor power supply? On the other hand, if the compressor is a mechanical compressor (though for all I know it could be a data or signal compressor), it could well be generating pulses (revolutionary impulses?) by means of a magnetic pickup.
that the word "trigger" derives from the FR "trigger", or Old French "triguer" and our modern EN usage, "to trig" (though some variants have it as "to trigg"). Shakespeare refers to "trigging bastards", while Marlow describes a drunkard trigging unsteadily from brothel to brothel. Note the obvious etymological link with "intrigue". RR's horse was certainly pretty frisky, and as for hamsters.....
I thought I was the one who came up with silly remarks. It's nice to see there are other light hearted people around. Life is for living not just for work.

In spite of CC's explanations, your answer came in first.
Explanation: A muxlog I take to mean a multiplexed (data) logger, which is told to wake up and log an event when it receives a trigger signal from the output of the compressor supply (unless that really is "aimentation", ie something to do with magnets, which it could be).
Is Franglais a legitimate ProZ pair component?

Schnap!
Stricly speaking, that would be "aimantation" if it's related to magnets, but who knows?
