French to English translations [PRO] Automotive / Cars & Trucks / car accessories | | French term or phrase: range-lunettes | Appears to be a car-accessory.
Is it 'sunglasses-holder'?
A google hunt threw up photos of this accessory from Renault (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Renault-SUNGLASSES-HOLDER-Scenic-2...
The text specifies the various test procedures for 'range-lunettes'.
Am sorry but have no further context nor photos to add.
Many thanks for your help in advance

Not a brand name. I suspect that it is simply that "sunglasses holder" is considered snappier than "porte lunettes de soleil". So, the French had to go for a shorter version that fails to avoid the implication that the car might be bought by an older person who uses reading glasses or bifocals rather than being bought by a cool wearer of sunglasses.

See my note to Chris. A vibration test would be important as it would be dangerous if vibration caused the sunglasses holder to open and drop the glasses while you were driving.

The sunglasses holder in my car is above the windscreen and in the centre. When you push to open and it slowly folds down and you push it back up to close. It has a microfibre-covered, protective foam lining that stops the glasses rattling around. All sorts of things can cause annoying rattles and squeaks in cars, this could be one of them. |

Asker: Many thanks 1045. a.'eyeglasses holder' and b.'sunglasses holder'. 'a' appears technically correct, 'b' is cool as Finch pointed out. Thanks a ton again!
