many thanks in advance for any help,

kermes oak brushland

Explanation:
I remember reading in a guide book about typical Mediterranean landscapes and came across the term 'kermes oak brushland', which is typical of the region. Apparently, the Kermes oak (as opposed to a normal oak tree) is a shrub which grows to under 2m tall.
So although I'm not a botanical expert by any stretch of the imagination, I thought this might help??!

Kermes oak bushland

Explanation:
Quercus coccifera = chêne kermès - gets its name from the scale insect (cochenille, kermès) that is its common parasite - See wikipedia. Probably not bushland in Europe, maybe just Kermes oak stands/forests (they are bushes, not trees).

This should set you on the right path. Have you tried the EU biotopes nomenclature?

shrubland, indeed, not bush(land)
