oval and lance-shaped (leaves)
Explanation:
Clematis recta is an herbaceous perennial and belongs to AHS group 3. Small, 3/4 inch long flowers are held in terminal panicles and borne from summer to fall. Blooms are followed by showy, woolly seed heads. Leaves are grayish green, lance-shaped, 3 to 6 inches long. C. recta makes a lovely addition to a perennial border, though it does need support. Native to central and southern Europe.

neutral  philgoddard: "Oval to lance-shaped" would be correct in a book for the general reader, but I think the technical term lanceolate is more appropriate here.
