French term or phrase: points d'eau
Hello,
I'm looking for a good translation of points d'eau in English. The context is a description of where a particular plant is found :
"On me rencontre uniquement dans 5 rivières et points d’eau du sud "
As you can see, it's the plant talking (!) so the tone is simple to understand. I thought of translating it as waterholes but feel it's simply making the difference between rivers and other water areas (perhaps lakes/ponds etc).
After reading other explanations, I don't feel "catchment areas" is correct - perhaps "bodies of water" is better - it could fit in with the tone but wonder if there's a better word that I haven't thought of.
Could anyone help please?

(other) bodies of water
Explanation:
Wiki - A body of water or waterbody[1] (often spelled water body) is any significant accumulation of water, usually covering the Earth or another planet. The term body of water most often refers to large accumulations of water, such as oceans, seas, and lakes, but it may also include smaller pools of water such as ponds, puddles or wetlands.

Or, waterbodies if you are looking for one word.

Thanks for this - in fact I'm probably going to use "areas of water". I'm concerned about the "register" of the text as it's for a public exhibition on ecology.

places where there is water

Explanation:
This could be a possibility, given the tone of the text.

I am found in rivers and other places where there is water

Ducks are birds. Ducks are also called 'Waterfowl' because they are normally found in places where there is water like ponds, streams and rivers.

sources of water

Explanation:
another suggestion - has the advantage of covering all possibilities but the disadvantage of not being one word
