Agent in Portugal for tax purposes. Differential waived. Explanation: "Retenir" means to select, choose, or make a decision in favor of something. In English, a verb that embodies the negative (here, "to waive") is better than a literal rendering such as "not chosen." The "ecart" is apparently a difference (presumably, in the extent or magnitude or the tax liability) between Portugal and (presumably) France... Cheers, HC |

represented for tax purposes in Portugal ; discrepancy not retained Explanation: The ambiguous bit for me here is the precsie meaning in the context of "écart non-retnu". Could it mean that it had been waived, as already suggested. Or indeed the opposite, that the tax authorities are not prepared to accept this discrepancy and the person/company cannot take this into account and set it off against tax. It could also be that the person or the comapny now has to come up with a couple of explanations if the discrepancy has been rejected. As for "représentation" this might be either that the company is registered for tax purposes in Portugal and/or that it has an accountant to takae care of such matters there, thus representing it.
