dans SPRL, P = privée

Explanation:
the "P bit" stands for "privée"...
and SPRL is a form of private limited company or limited liability company (according to Eurodicautom)

a quick google search (on: sprl société responsabilité limité) gave tons of hits, including:
http://mrw.wallonie.be/dgee/dpe/dia/fr/creation/creation-01....

http://www.ccic.be/abcom/societes.html

with a bit more definition): http://www.student.info.ucl.ac.be:8080/Archives/Promotion199...

and more...

Hope this helps.

PS I still haven't found a *good* F>E dictionnary of abbreviations either. I hope someone can suggest one... or better yet an on-line F>E acronym finder!! (I usually muddle through by asking around and/or google searching on the abbreviation plus any words I do know for acronyms... )

Société Privée à Responsabilité Limitée

Explanation:
"Deux types de sociétés sont généralement utilisées en Belgique : l’entreprise individuelle, la société privée à responsabilité limitée et la société anonyme".

Details are available on:

http://www.eic-npdc.org/France/Textes/02-Belgique.htm

SPRL is something like Private Limited Liability Company :

"In order to process your application for your Limited Liability Company, Equidoc Corporation may ask for private Limited Liability Company Information about your officers and directors"

http://www.equidoc.com/eclsforms.htm

But there are many legal differences between these two legal forms. You can understand them from above-mentioned sites. Jurisdictions in different countries are very different.

Hope it can help you.

Best Regards,
Serge

acronym resources

Explanation:
I don't know of any current F>E abbreviations dictionary (there was a good one in several languages but it's no longer in print), but I sometimes find helpful the French-French Dictionnaire de sigles, which I got at the Maison du dictionnaire in Paris. There must be several volumes, because mine says it specializes in the social and economic fields. There's also a Web site where people help each other with acronyms, and the selected one gets archived: http://qqcvd.webiciel.com/ Another one that I haven't used in a while (so I don't know if it's still in operation) is http://www.acronymfinder.com. I hope these resources are helpful. Karen
