I assume it's some kind of bonds - could it be an abbreviation for "obligations rachetées avant l'échéance"? I'm guessing but would like confirmation...not much luck on the Internet.

Les ORANES, obligations à option de remboursement en actions ou numéraire, sont des obligations à courte échéance qui peuvent dans un cas être remboursées par remises d\'actions nouvelles et dans d autres cas par remboursement en cash. Elles ont été utilisées la première fois en France par Lafarge dans son OPAoffre publique d\'achat (OPA) sur Blue Circle et il était prévu que si l \'OPA réussissait les ORANES seraient remboursées en actions Lafarge et que si cette OPA ratait, elles seraient alors remboursées en cash, Lafarge n\'ayant pas besoin des liquidités qu il avait recueillies via l\'émission d\'ORANES pour financer son OPA si celle-ci échouait.
