by channels/pipes/grooves/canals/ducts/flues/flumes, assisted or not assisted
Sometimes we would just say "by", rather than "by means of", though not necessarily here.
For "canaux", the context is important...
"Assiste", in a technical context, can mean "servo-assisted", but not here I would think.
