French term or phrase: banque à tout va
C'est un jeu de casinos en France mais j'ai aucune idée ce qu'il s'agit.

Pourriez-vous me donner une simple description de ce jeu? Est-ce un jeu de cartes? C'est encore plus important que le traduire pour moi.

Merci d'avance.

From this link

1 - www.cardplayer.com/books1.html

“... Improve Your Poker by well-known ... discusses pot-limit and no-limit betting theory and its ... craps, roulette, keno, or baccarat for reasons explained therein ... “

and several others along the same lines, there would appear to be various sorts of limits which can be imposed on various games. Here are some of the terms a quick search came up with :
- pot limit
- high limit
- no limit

These terms appear to be used for baccarat and for poker also, although my card playing starts and ends with “Snap!”.

As to whether this is the “banque à tout va”, then apart from the fact that it sounds right, although that alone is far from being a guarantee, it may well be right. Here are some additional sources you may wish to check out.

2 - http://www.abaco-online-casino-gambling.com/baccara-rules.ht... (for indication of its origins and rules explained on the same page)

“ Different variations of the game were played in the middle ages, and their source is unknown today. In the late 18th century the casinos of the French high society introduced a game called “Chemin de Fer” that was a direct descendant of the old medieval games, and the ancestor of the game world-wide known as Baccarat. The name Baccarat (BAH-ka-rah) is derived from the Italian baccara, which means zero. The term refers to the face cards and 10s, all of which have zero value in the game. Since baccarat's introduction in Nevada casinos, the game has assumed an aura of glamour in the US. It was called "Shimmy" before 1960, when it was given it's European name "Baccarat" …”
