performance-related pay Explanation: As pointed out above, this is generally what "variable" means, it depends on your sales levels, achievement of objectives etc. "Performance-related" is a standard sort of phrase at least in British English. own experience |

variable pay scheme ; variable remuneration Explanation: I would go along entirely with Paola on her explanation, with perhaps one slight distinction : a flexible pay scheme sounds more general, implying that not only the remuneration itself is subject to variation but also other related elements. "variable pay" : indicates that just the pay is subject to variation. Why not variable remuneration, after all. |
