Profit-related bonus/share scheme Explanation: In France, 'la participation' is a profit-sharing scheme offered by many companies, in which an annual profit-related bonus is awarded to all employees, in an amount proportional to their salary, but invested for a minimum of 5 years (although in certain specific circumstances it can be accessed sooner) in the company's (or group's) own shares. Intéressement is the same system, but the money is invested in joint savings plans (like unit trusts), across a range of companies. HTH Julia |
