French term or phrase: Consultant Principal

I have a chart with list of job titles, and this one is on the list - however, also on the list is "Consultant Senior", which apparently also means "Senior Consultant". Or, is there a difference between these two terms? Apparently they are in fact two different individuals at this company. I was thinking of “Head Consultant” for this term and “Senior Consultant” for “Consultant Senior”.

"consultant senior" and "consultant principal" could be two different people, yes. The identical french nouns could be 1)consultant and 2)designer. The differentiation depends on whether the worker is inside the company or contracted from the outside. A "consultant" would be a specialist hired from the outside and a "designer" would be the person in charge of conceiving and developing the project. The term "lead" is used in US English for "main", "primary" or "head", "senior".
