Bus/Financial - Business/Commerce (general)
|French term or phrase: commission-affiliation|
|This is found on the website of a French company, referring to its expansion through new business practices:|
"Outre le développement d'un réseau de boutiques en propre, XXXs'ouvre aujourd'hui à la commission affiliation".
Note: this combination appears both joined by a hyphen, and as two separate words. I've done some research which suggests that it refers to a type of affiliation whereby a retailer can carry the stock of a company it's affiliated to. I'm not sure how this differs from franchising: indeed, I've found one or two glossary sites that say it's the same thing as franchising. (But then why have a separate term for it if that's the case?)
Is there a specific English term for this type of arrangement?
