Can anyone help me with '2%u' and does anyone know what 'ste' means.
Thanks!
It appears under a section relating to financial arrangements. Here is an extract from the partnership contract with the text in context:
le distributeur s’engage a donner a la XXXXX 2%u des parts sociales de la ste qu’il exploite la marque et les dérives du groupe .....

Clarification request(s) and response
James Roberts: 12:21pm Feb 24, 2008: I would say the "u" is a typo and "ste" means "société", though I'm open to correction.
cmwilliams: 9:51pm Feb 24, 2008: Could someone please alter the glossary entry for 'parts sociales'? Thanks.

2% of the company's social capital
Explanation:
'ste' is short for 'société and I'd say the 'u' is a typo.

agree James Roberts: Yes, but I think maybe "shares" for "parts sociales".

  -> Thanks James.

neutral cmwilliams: 'parts sociales' are shares

-> Yes, as James states above, '2% of the company's shares' would be a good translation.

agree rufinus: 'shares is right'. I don't believe we say 'social capital' in English to refer to a company's capital stock/authorized capital/registered capital etc.

agree Aude Sylvain: agree, using "shares"

neutral Iga Kulig: yes, but using "shares"
3 hrs

disagree rkillings: If 'social capital' means anything at all in English, it doesn't mean share capital.
6 hrs

disagree Tony M: Deciphering is right, but 'social capital' is so way off, I really couldn't agree!

neutral Yolanda Broad: shares, not social capital.

2% of the company's corporate shares

Explanation:
'sociales' I would have thought would be corporate.
