French to English translations [PRO]

This comes from a contract setting out the terms under which private holiday rentals are advertised on a Tourist Office website. I'm just wondering what the difference is between "arrhes" and "acompte" as both mean deposit in advance I think.
Il est conseillé que le contrat de location indique certains points importants : durée de la location, prix, charges, versement d’avance (arrhes ou acompte), caution, conditions d’annulation, taxe de séjour etc...
