Bus/Financial - Business/Commerce (general)
French term or phrase: appréhender
In context:

The French in that last paragraph reads a little oddly to me and I'm struggling to get the sense of it. Any suggestions?

I would suggest though these terms differ widely from the basic meaning of the French verb.

maybe the author mixed it up with the English verb apprehend whose meaning (in its old form) is to understandf

Explanation:
All other meanings given by the other translators cover the term as well.

More colloquially, it might be "to come to grips with ..." , but perhaps not suitable for a formal business document.
