French term or phrase: d’une participation indirecte
Pls see below for a tender, regarding shares and shareholding, not sure of the correct equivalent for this, thanks (indirect shares sounds funny to me or holds shares indirectly)

indirect holding
Explanation:
Fairly straight translation, and also inthe GDT.

And there's even a Wiki:
The indirect holding system (also multi-tiered holding system) is a system of securities clearance, settlement and ownership system most widely used in the world today. It consists of one or more tiers of intermediaries between issuer and investor. It is an evolution from the "direct holding system" in which owners of securities had a direct relationship with the issuer.

But, as with many "il s'agit de..." constructions, some rephrasing is in order. Perhaps, "If shares are held indirectly..."

an indirect equity stake

Explanation:
It is clear from the context that it is indirect because it is owned through a third company or third companies, such as a subsidiary or another company in the same group. That is why the passage requests information on basically a chain of ownership, with company names and company information. Equity stake is the standard term for ownership of a percentage or block of shares.
