Asker: code bancaire sounds reasonable, but this CB is located outside of bank details section of the invoice.

"CB" : voilà deux lettres bien connues de tous, mais derrière lesquelles chacun met une signification qui n’est pas toujours officielle. Si CB peut vouloir dire "C’est Beau, C’est Bon, C’est Bingo, C’est Bien, etc." et bien d’autres choses encore, souvent on oublie que cela veut dire tout simplement : Cartes Bancaires.

Might this not be "code banque" (similar to "code bancaire") as suggested by Gflan below, as in what is found on a RIB (relevé d'identité bancaire)?

Indeed it could be an internal accounting code.

A lot more information is needed in fact. I ought to "un-non-pro" this one! Actually, you are probably going to have to ask your client.

The 6-digit code is a clue but again, without context, we're wading in mud!

Note that on the RIB, a "code banque" has 5 digits. The "code guichet" has 6.

It may well be an internal code.

Note finally, that for cartes bancaires, the complete number will never appear in full, for obvious reasons!
