Might be bad drafting, unless *proof of receipt* is addressed elsewhere in the contract. Delivery of orders electronically, for example, might generate authenticated proof of receipt of the order message via the system. Returning a signed paper copy of the order within 48 hours would then be required to DECLINE the order. Failing to respond would commit the supplier to deliver the goods or services on the terms of the order.

when you sign for a delivery, you accept that it has been received correctly, all the parts delivered, the box isnt broken etc. just from context of living here, I agree it isnt in the language itself, but I understand that if you dont acknowledge receipt after 48 hours of getting the package, they will assume that you received it and that EVERYTHING was OK, ie you cant make a claim that the shipment was damaged or incorrect after that time.

Acknowledgement of receipt (return of signed order form) constitutes acceptance of the order. Failure to acknowledge receipt constitutes acceptance of the order. What doesn't constitute acceptance of the order? Damned if you do, damned if you don't!
