Bus/Financial - Business/Commerce (general) / company figures | | French term or phrase: "vente de marchandise" and "production vendue: biens, services, total " | In a table the company has to submit their pre-tax figures for the fiscal year. Four figures are to be given: vente de marchandises (first box), production vendue: 1- biens, 2- services (second box) and total. What is the difference between biens and marchandise? I'm assuming biens cannot be assets or it would not appear under "production". Is it simply a distinction between goods bought and sold (marchandise) and goods produced and sold (production: biens)?

I would take the same meaning out of it as you have done. "Marchandise" is merchandise, or commodities in the sense of bought-and-sold, whereas "biens & services" mean "goods (manufactured) and services". I would givethe translation as "Commodity/merchandise sales" and "Sales of Products: 1. goods, 2. Services" |
