"Le champ des possibilités XXX s'élargit, allant même jusqu'à remettre en cause certains fondamentaux de l'entreprise."

My dictionaries don't show either "certain" or "fondamental" as a noun, yet that seems to be the usage here. Is the meaning "certain basic assumptions" or "certain key conditions" of the enterprise? Is it something else?

Thank you, all. Rita, your answer came closest in concept, so you get the points. CarolynB, I liked the colloquial turn of phrase, but thought I needed something closer to principles/assumptions. Jane, a great elaboration, but in this context the financial reading did not in fact fit. I appreciate your help, each and everyone!

This is the same in English. It is is taken from Stock Market Analysis...Fundamentals very technical analysis. Here's a basic explanation:

Believe me, you can just leave this as is. It is NOT principles or anything like that. They are indicators that a company is HEALTH. And everbody in the CORPORATE world knows what the term refers to.

Deborah...rather than use a dictionary, try to find the concept in other French texts. Dictionaries are of little use in cases like these.
