French to English translations [PRO] Bus/Financial - Business/Commerce (general)
French term or phrase:certains fondamentaux
"Le champ des possibilités XXX s'élargit, allant même jusqu'à remettre en cause certains fondamentaux de l'entreprise."
My dictionaries don't show either "certain" or "fondamental" as a noun, yet that seems to be the usage here. Is the meaning "certain basic assumptions" or "certain key conditions" of the enterprise? Is it something else?
Thank you, all. Rita, your answer came closest in concept, so you get the points. CarolynB, I liked the colloquial turn of phrase, but thought I needed something closer to principles/assumptions. Jane, a great elaboration, but in this context the financial reading did not in fact fit. I appreciate your help, each and everyone! 3 KudoZ points were awarded for this answer
Could "l'entreprise" here mean "doing business" rather than "the business"? Example "certains fondamentaux" are confidentiality and integrity.
