It's always the thing with these "Grandes Ecoles"... there is no real equivalent outside of France, so I don't quite know how best to translate this. Thanks very much in advance. |

Yes, it is very hard to find a good equivalent to the French "Grandes Ecoles", because "school" doesn't quite do it, as to me it suggests part of a faculty in a university, and "college" neither... in the end I chose "Higher College of Electrical Engineering" as an explanation for the original French title. Supélec was established over a century ago in Paris. A first extension was created in Rennes, Brittany, in 1972. In 1975 its headquarters were relocated on the Gif-sur-Yvette campus, fifteen miles south of Paris, and a further extension was built in Metz, Lorraine, in 1985. Ever since, Supélec has functioned as a three-campus, single Engineering Institution.

| Note from asker to answerer| Thanks for your research and suggestion. I had looked at the website in fact, but not found exactly what seemed to fit for an official degree. In the end I added a translantion to the original French: "Higher College of Electrical Engineering". It seemed like the best option. |
