French to English translations [PRO] Law/Patents - Certificates, Diplomas, Licenses, CVs
French term or phrase:Section de tribunal de XX
This term appears on an 'acte d'individualite' document. The person authorising the document is the president of the Section de tribunal de XX, XX being the city in question. I assume an acceptable translation would be 'XX Court Section', meaning one part of the group of courts in the area as opposed to the YY Court Section. However I am interested to know if there is a more accurate word to use instead of section. Or is another possible meaning that it is the Court section as opposed to the another kind of section?
I hope I have explained this clearly. Any help much appreciated.

- an extract of the original in order to have a clearer understanding of what "section" means here (whether it is a technical division or a geographical one for example).
