My daughter is in Première ES. It corresponds to a programme covering economics and social sciences. The programme is preset with a few options in there. The official text give the general idea. The programme in Première leads onto the Terminale ES with a Bac ES as the goal.

(The French system is a little more formatted than the English one. It is closer to the Scottish Higher/Lower system in fact. AS or the American programmes...).

In any event, that means the pupil has opted to major in Economics and Social Sciences. (There are still, maths, life sciences, and other stuff too).

to translate to "US equivalent" - there is really no such thing - and anyway for all you know, the reader may be Australian, or Irish....
Aim to convey the "reality" without localising it

As an alternative to Nigel's "curriculum". The most you can hope to do is give an explanation, after all. Or even "studies"?

In British English, I get round it by adding "(economic and social sciences curriculum)", but I'm not sure that's the best way to go for American English
