French to English translations [PRO] Cinema, Film, TV, Drama
French term or phrase:video skim
I'm new to this site and I'm not really sure how it works so excuse me if this was not how i was supposed to do this..
anyway I have this text that I have to translate and I'm having some trouble with the expression "video skim".
Here is where I found it :
"Moving-image abstracts, or also called video skims, are a collection of image sequences along with the corresponding audio from the original video sequence."
I don't even know if there really is a French equivalent but I really can't find it!
So feel free if you have any suggestions...
as for the context, here is an abstract so you can see what the whole text is about :
"Video summarization aims at providing concise and informative summaries of
video content. In the past few years it has become a very relevant issue in the
context of the growing volume of digital video databases.
In this thesis we propose an automated video content analysis and summarization
framework for creating moving-image summaries of movies and TV series
meant for replacing the original content. We introduce a formal model and define
the problem of movies and TV series summarization."
and it's not really US or UK English since the person that wrote it is not a native speaker but I would say that he uses US English
Welcome, Marie! And yes, you've done it just fine! It might help to know a little bit of the general context and register of your document, and also, if this is US or UK English? Sorry, I can't help as far as the term itself goes!
