French term or phrase: caméra lourde
Is there a standard English term for this? I don't think "heavy camera" is what you say...

": 1 Régie SD 16/9, 3 caméras lourdes LDK 500, 1 brc 300 ...."
"A cela s’ajoute une caméra HF en version lourde ..."

Thanks

studio camera

Explanation:
From the text, it seems as if they are referring to studio cameras (try the Philips's site for their description of what an LDK500 is — back in my days, LDK5s were certainly thumping great studio cameras!)

Note that they go on to talk about another camera 'en version lourde' — i.e. in studio configuration, which impies certain accessories like a large-screen viewfinder, and possibly remotes for zoom and focus, etc.

Of course, the description 'studio camera' doesn't mean these cameras can only be used in a studio! They are of course very frequently used for OBs, things like sports coverage etc. It simply refers to the type of camera, i.e. usually one that is not intended to be hand-held! Though of course these days, many studios use what are basically hand-held cameras but in their studio configuration, with accessories as mentioned above to make them more suitable for studio use.

Here's a PDf data sheet on the LDK 500:

http://www.grassvalley.com/docs/DataSheets/cameras/ldk500/ld...

Of course, it's no longer a Philips product, but a Thomson / Grass Valley one.

Note that this is indeed a camera capable of being used hand-held, but is clearly available with a full complement of studio-configuration accessories.

Note too that, however true it might be, 'heavy' is not a word likely to be bandied around by camera manufacturers' marketing people — I well remember some of the adverts for early Hitachi and other cameras, which really were quite heavy, but were shown being handled by scantily-clad Amazons in order to make them appear small and lightweight!

If the term 'studio camera' would appear too ridiculous (e.g. if your situation was specifically being contrasted with some other genuinely 'studio' system), then you might be able to use 'camera in studio configuration' instead.

Heavy duty

Explanation:
i.e. heavy duty camera(s), not designed to be hand held and easily portable.

Heavy duty as in the dictionary definition: designed to withstand the stresses of demanding use. Cameras like the LDK are usually tripod mounted, they can be used hand held, but not for any length of time.

IMO I don't think we are looking for an "industry standard" term here. i.e. the next sentence is A cela s’ajoute une caméra HF en version lourde ... (to this add a heavy duty HF camera.).

disagree  Tony M: Sorry, but apart from the fact that this isn't a standard term in the industry AFAIK, if you take one look at the LDK 500, you can immediately see that it is designed to be hand-held and portable (in that configuration, at least).

LDK 500 cameras configured for mounted use

Explanation:
A LDK 500 camera can be used mounted or hand-held. Configured for tripod, or trolly mounted use, it will have a fitted mounting bracket and possibly a viewing screen as well as the view-finder. It is heavier. This is all I can think of to give meaning to 'lourde' in this phrase, obviously written for someone who knows about professional video equipment. I might be tempted to leave heavy out of it, and just list "Three LDK 500 cameras." Heavy is not providing really vital information.

agree  Tony M: Yes, but not really 'static', since they can of course be quite mobile! Just not as mobile as hand-held ones...
