French to English translations [PRO] Art/Literary - Cinema, Film, TV, Drama / Review on work of Visual & photographic artist | | French term or phrase: l'impulsion du debit | I am not sure if this is a reference to computer signals or TV signals, but it is part of the work of a visual/photoographic artist who usually works from photographing film frames/images. (other questions on this trans. posted under arts field). This particular paragraph is talking about a work he has produced which exploits the inteference/viruses caused by high-speed internet and television (which is why I have submitted this under Film/TV).
Context reads:
"[Artist X] exploite les carences de la réception du signal. Désormais, les séquences se mélangent sous l’impulsion du débit. Il fige le moment où l’image s’égare, piégée dans l’accumulation, ne parvenant plus à apparaître dans son authenticité. "
I have attempted "signal transmissions" but I am sure this must be wrong as I don't have enough technical education to assume that I would be right, i.e. it's just a guess.:
"Eric Rondepierre exploits the loss of the signal. From now on the sequences blend through the **signal transmissions**. He captures the moment where the image gets lost, caught up in the accumulation, never managing to appear as an authentic image. " |

| | driven by the flow | Explanation: It's not a technical term here, but simply referring to the way the rate at which images etc. are transmitted drives the sequence forward; no time to stop and think, and that's where errors come in... sort of the relentlessness of the information flow... |
