French term or phrase: "c’est en partant loin avec quelqu’un qu’on peut savoir si on est proche"
it's from a French film from the mid-2000's called "les poupées russes". It's like what Friends would have been like if it focused on questioned of love & had been a French series.

To disclose your relationship, just go along with him (or her) on a (long) trip

Explanation:
J'opterais pour quelque chose qui rime plus ou moins (relationship / trip), sans excès.

neutral  NancyLynn: But to disclose your relationship is more along the lines of revealing it to others, as in a secret office romance. Perhaps a different verb?

neutral  B D Finch: Agree with Nancy's comment, plus "just go along with" sounds like tagging along.
