Based on a previous question about deroulant evolutif I have pencilled in "multi-layered tree structure", but i'm wondering whether evolutive in fact implies a dynamic aspect to the tree, that it is created perhaps based on the user's search query?

All help appreciated.

Thanks.

disagree  Neil Coffey: Think "evolutive" is a translationism that's not really used in ntive English. Also "tree structure" isn't so common when talking about user interface to document retrieval (would be used more when takling about data structures/directories).

-> Yes, I agree, but on checking "evolutive" out I found quite a few examples.

neutral  Neil Coffey: Don't they mean a diagram as such in this case, though, just a hieararchical means of navigating/retrieving documents.

user-changeable directory structure

Explanation:
Sure about 'directory structure' -- they're talking about 'folders', 'subfolders' etc. containing files. 'Evolutive' might mean a number of other things, but they would hardly be touting this feature unless users can reconfigure the structure when they want.

disagree  Neil Coffey: Agree with "directory structure" if you're actually talking about files on a disk, but not for an intranet page.

pliant tree structure

Explanation:
Just another possibility (and I figured that you probably already thought of "adaptable" and "flexible.")

open(-ended) hierarchy

Explanation:
I think this is probably what they're referring to and how I'd phrase it: in effect, they're saying that the means in which you navigate through the document organisation system to find the document that you want should be simplified, but that it shouldn't be "fixed" in structure.
