I can also confirm that the IT development group producing this material are based in France and all source material is drafted in French, not just manuals and guidelines, but also coding and GUI development.
Do ask, but it could be translated badly from an original. Somebody may have used "vitre" for window. So ask also if it was translated from another language - you never know.
The word "vitre" can be a translation of "pane" (= a subsection or layer of a window), but I'm not sure that fits the context. There is such a thing as an "error pane", but not sure if it actually fits what they mean.
these developers use 'fenêtre' when they mean "window". I have included all references from the document in my context. There are also web-links in the document to the company's development server, but they are https with no access for me. Any hackers out there?
If it's company jargon, you can call it what you like in English within reason, so what's wrong with "windows"?
