French to English translations [PRO]
Tech/Engineering - Computers: Software
French term or phrase: console lourde
I am having trouble with the term "console lourde" in the following sentence (from a user's guide):

"Pour les consoles lourdes, il faut se connecter sur les serveurs suivants:"

Further context offers "console lourde" as an alternative to "console Web." Is there such a thing as a heavy console?

English translation:Fat Client
Explanation:
In IT there is a distinction between Fat Clients (which are PCs or laptops with application software loaded on them) and Thin Clients (where the application software is loaded on to servers at a data centre and the PC only as connection software). If both Fat Clients and Thin Clients are deployed they will need to connect differently. Hence the reference to the 'following servers'.

agree  philgoddard: Yes, they're also called heavy clients. No capitals, as it's not a trademark.

console in heavy/high traffic

Explanation:
Not an expert and am struggling to find the right term, but it's when the console is experiencing heavy traffic due to too many users, and you need to switch to an alternative browser.....feel free to correct me if I'm wrong! :)
