Just something I have noted on your suggested rendering in the body of the post...
Without the benefit of context, I may not be right, but I do not quite understand your choice of "when a file is being processed". As I understand it, the sentence means that if there has been a problem, it may be possible to correct it, thus :
In the event of an error or anomaly [having occurred in file processing], depending on the cause, it may be possible to correct the processing said error or anomaly.
Further, "reprendre" is being used here to mean go over, repair, correct, take corrective measures rather than 'resume'.
Note that the part in square brackets [] may be omitted altogether for a more natural reading. Other renderings are possible. It would be good to avoid repetition of error and anomaly I have employed but I was concerned to draw your attention to the points raised. ;-)
Just had a rethink on this one. Indeed, it is of course possible that this is describing processing resuming if an error/anomaly arises, depending upon the cause thereof. of course it is posible for it to be understood as you have rendered it.
