can also be "test suites" but I think that's a bit old fashioned now.

Test set

Explanation:
Or "series of tests" / "range of tests".

I presume this is similar to a "jeu de tests" which are a series/range of tests carried out during acceptance testing of software.

I don't have a reference to hand but will try to dig something up

Asker: thank you, Cillian. I gave the pts to Terry, but I could just as easily have given them to you. Hope you're not cross.

test cases

Explanation:
The standard term used when I worked in IT was "test cases". When I worked as a test manager on software implementation projects, I created a test plan which included one or more sets of test cases, each for a different testing scenario, that our customer would run in order to do customer acceptance testing.

The process would include the steps outlined in the source text, where we would provide the customer with the test plan and test cases and they would approve them or otherwise provide their feedback. We would then work together until we came up with a test cases that would assure that their requirements would be met.

--------------------------------------------------

In my experience in drafting test plans, "test cases" alone would suffice in this context, as opposed to 'sets of test cases'. The only time I ever talked about 'sets of test cases' was when I was discussing the different scenarios represented by each set. In this context, however, the focus is on the test cases as a whole, regardless of whether they're grouped into sets or not, so any reference to sets or groups may be unnecessary.
