Does anyone know the most appropriate translation for "mot directeur" in the context of a database.
Sample sentences as follows:

"Ces informations sont classées par fichier d'origine, puis par mot directeur.

"Tri par fichier / mot directeur"

I found "Basic word" but I'm not convinced by this, could it possibly be "keyword"?

Charlie Bavington: one could wonder why they didn't say "mot cle" but I certainly don't think "key word" would ever be wrong in this kind of context.

-> Thanks, Charlie! I don't know the nuance, but I have come across 'directeur' surprisingly often in this kind of meaning; I think they use 'clé' more to mean a pivotal word...like a keystone in an arch!
