Tech/Engineering - Computers (general)
French term or phrase: qualifier
Context: "Cette équipe doit pouvoir *qualifier* les versions "palier technique" et produire les livrables utilisés par les équipes en charge de la mise en oeuvre et de l'exploitation des environnements d'accueil de ce produit..."

I'm not sure how to interpret 'qualifier' here, whether it is to be used in the sense of identify or certify...?

to approve
Explanation:
I would use "to approve" rather than "to certify" to be on the safe side.

qualify

Explanation:
are we describing the team that qualifies the version status before customer release,if so the technical steps would be alpha, beta, field test, global shipment versions (this was our naming procedure where I worked)

If this is the case it could be that qualifier means that they test the version to see if it meets the requirements for the 'palier technique'

Explanation:
I know this is "reading into the translation" but are we speaking of programmers here?

otherwise, it doesn't make sense to me
