French to English translations [PRO] Tech/Engineering - Computers (general)
French term or phrase:confinée du temps réel embarqué
o Les réseaux cellulaires ont réuni les utilisateurs autour du sentiment d’appartenir à une communauté délivrée du carcan des fils et des câbles, branchée sur le monde, et ont ressuscité au niveau du développement logiciel, l’informatique « janséniste » et confinée du temps réel embarqué.
Explanation: first, please note that "temps réel embarqué" does not agree with "informatique. While it (temps réel embarqué) does exist as a qualifier for, e.g. "logiciel", it is also a noun in its own right, where the "logiciel" or "system" element is taken as read.
(qv use of "applicatif" - a qualifier - for "application"; or descriptif for description)
So, "temps réel embarqué" means real-time embedded systems/software.
I'm not utterly sure what Jansenist has to do with anything in "l’informatique « janséniste » et confinée", but the last word can be taken to mean limited or restricted.
All in all then :
"...have revived, in terms of s/w development, the Jansenist (sic) and limited/restricted computing of real-time embedded systems."
Which doesn't sound overly flattering at first sight, so I hope that fits with the wider context :-)

Which is, ultimately, not a million miles from your own suggestion, but I thought a fuller explanation was in order, since I was slightly concerned, given the phrasing of your question, that you had arrived at more or less the right answer for slightly misguided reasons, in terms of what was qualifying what.
l'informatique du temps réel embarqué - embedded real time... ok
l'informatique confinée : informatique enfermée, bornée, étroite (un Français entendra "con" (stupide) dans "confinée".
eh bien dis donc celle-là est raffinée!... Ce que je comprends dans cette énigme c'est qu'ils ont trouvé une nouvelle forme d'informatique moins stricte et moins bornée Bon Courage!
