Asker: C'est dans le sens ou une personne prend la main sur un ordinateur distant. C'est à dire qu'il en prend le contrôle des commandes à distance. Il y a une expression pour ça! Je ne sais juste + laquelle!!

neutral  Charlie Bavington: "prendre le main" in IT contexts is fairly common usage for "taking control of" and similar notions

agree  Charlie Bavington: or "take remote control of/over" given the note made to CMJ, just for extra clarification if required. Just "take over" would also do fine here.

agree  xxxkblake007: Take control works in the technical community, another way of saying this is prise en main à distance (remote control)

neutral  Charlie Bavington: no argument with "remote" (see my Agree to Kim) but "prendre la main" *does* imply that something/one else initially has control, and that this control is then 'acquired' by something/one else, which is missing from simply "to (remotely) control".

-> hi. Sorry hadn't seen your other comment. However I don't think that you do need to add 'take' with remote control in this case as ,IMO, its self explanatory on that point....

disagree  xxxkblake007: this is close but not quite right. Prendre la main would just be "take control," remote control would be prendre en main à distance
