French to English translations [PRO]
Law/Patents - Computers (general) / software agreement
French term or phrase: dépôt (de logiciel)
Under section entitled: Acces aux codes sources
Pour le dépôt d’une nouvelle version, le Prestataire devra fournir à XYZ les documents écrits attestant la sauvegarde des Codes Sources, la description complète de leurs composants, le numéro ou la date de la version déposée, le ou les lieux de dépôt et l'engagement donné par le tiers dépositaire habilité de fournir à XYZ ces Codes Sources conformément aux dispositions du présent Article.

"dépôt" has a very specific meaning here which has been touched on in previous questions, but which is eluding me in this specific context. I understand the concept of depositing the source code with an escrow agent, but is the "dépôt" of a new software version and the place or places of "dépôt" a reference to copyright, patent, registration, or other?

to register the new version / registered place

Ce n'est pas mon domain de spécialisation
et je ne fais qu'essayer

Il se peut qu'en matière de software et copywriter dépot puisse sous entendre l'enregistrement de la license et le lieu où cette licence a été déposée

Je ne suis pas certaine, la meilleure chose serait de demander au client car la traduction correcte n'est pas évidente ici .... l'on pourrait facilement se tromper. "tricky word"...

If I'm on the right track, it would be better to go for
place or places of licence registration (instead of registered place)
Sorry

"dépôt (de logiciel)" as "(software) patent registration"

Explanation:
I am not completely sure, but I am very confident that, as in Portuguese, the French term or phrase: "dépôt (de logiciel)" also refers to the "patent registration" and has little to do with the actual place where it is being "deposited" (In this sense the the closest meaning to that would be something like a "legal deposition", in the sense there is a written registration made to the legal or established authorities. I think "lieux de dépôt" just means the place or places/countries (?) in which the software has been licensed or registrated with a new patent.

Context is not huge but my hunch is we're talking about a deploying -that is installing and implementing at a particular customer site-a NEW release of an existing softwa

neutral  writeaway: a hunch should be based on language too. Linguistically speaking, this doesn't work.
