French term or phrase: repreneur
From a response to RFP.

De plus, XXX peut être amené à fournir une ou plusieurs ressources pour accompagner le repreneur pendant les premiers mois de fonctionnement.

I understand "repreneur" to be the staff member that takes over managing a software application after implementation by a third-party supplier.

Is there a specific term in English for this role?

Any help much appreciated.

the application lead assuming responsability
Explanation:
"Application lead" is the term I'm most familiar with from my IT experience. A more fuller translation might be "the application lead from YYY Company [originator of the RFP] assuming responsibility for the application."

takeover entity

Explanation:
The "repreneur" is someone who comes in when a company is in terminal difficulty to take it over. Sometimes, they just restructure the company and keep selling the same products/service. Sometimes they just liquidate the assets.

Notes to answerer
Asker: I know "repreneur" in the context of taking over a company - this is just taking over the tasks that the software company set up for its customer.

project champion

Explanation:
Although I, personally, hate that word and usage, I believe that's what they are talking about. That is, someone who takes ownership and responsibility for the project as soon as (and often before) it is delivered.
