coping
Explanation:
The large, hard stone (granite, etc.) blocks placed along the edge of a quay, in days gone by, constitute the coping. These days, they are replaced by a concrete coping beam (poutre de couronnement) along the edge, possibly more correctly called a "capping beam", especially in the case of sheetpile quay walls.

"Magistrale" is a military term, but has a similar meaning as "coping":

magistrale . En architecture militaire, désigne "l'assise de pierres dures qui formen le couronnement de l'escarpe"
[Dicobat]

platform coping - Concrete or masonry slab at edge of [railway] platform.
