"Pavé" covers not just the (granite) paving stones that soixante-huitards took delight in hurling at the CRS, but also concrete pavers. The more attractive concrete pavers are often those whose top surface has been roughened in one way or another: brushing vigorously just before the cement at the surface sets, water jetting before final set occurs, application of acid to etch the surface (it removes the cement matrix between the aggregate), etc. Globally these are called "exposed-aggregate finishes".
