I can't think of what rétentions might be that needs labelling. Any help appreciated :)

Pure guesswork, but the context suggests that this might be referring to spare cables (in particular) placed to cater for any future additions. It is easier and less expensive to lay spare cables when a building is first built than to try and fit them later.
