These will be posted as 3 separate questions, but I need to be able to distinguish between the 3 terms.
One, I assume, will be "tile nippers", but which one, and what about the others?
I'd appreciate any suggestions. Thanks! |

Explanation: I think this is the specialist tool for cutting/nipping tiles, but is very similar to nippers used for other applications (cutting wire, pulling out nails, etc.), except that the jaws are slightly longer in the case of tiles.

Hadn't thought about the complexities of tiling. It appears these are nippers used for breaking out holes in tiles, for taps and pipework. Ordinary straight nippers couldn't be worked into the hole, but parrot nippers do fit in, since the handle is in another plane. As one tiler says on the web, though, these are going out of fashion as ceramic hole cutters (on drills) gain ground.

Asker: thanks, Bourth! At least one of them has to be tile nippers, and this sounds like a likely candidate.
Asker: thanks again, Bourth! I was quite happy with this until Miranda came along! Also, I've used "tile nippers" later for "pinces à grignoter" (rightly or wrongly...)
