Any suggestions for how to translate rétention? It's from some safety guidelines for outfitting a laboratory in which hazardous gases are used

A safety wall can consiste of a simple timber construction safety barrier and is used to stop people/workers falling trough holes. eg. construction sites- stairs without balustrading, floors without walls. 'légère rétencion'= light retention, nothing permanent.
