French term or phrase: pavès 4 x 18 W
It should be some sort of a lighting fixture:
" Des pavès 4 x 18 W dans les r*fectoires, vestiaires, salle de sport, ...."

4 × 18 W luminaire OR fixture
Explanation:
"4 × 18W" refers to the fact that it takes 4 fluorescent tubes of the 18 watt size.

This is the standard lighting block often found in offices and other institutional premises; usually square, and often built in to the false ceiling.

AFAIK, there isn't a specific EN term to describe it as a 'pavé', the usual name for them is just 'luminaire' (technical term in the lighting industry) or 'fixture' (a more practical, down-to-earth term) — or even 'fitting', though I feel that is a layman's term and probably not in the right register here.

I think you'll find that we simply don't use an equivalent term to 'pavé' in EN, so you just have to work round it. this if quite often the case in technical — a specific distinction is made in one language that isn't in another.

The word I am looking for is "pavè" for which I did not get a plausible result from anyone. Your answer of "fixture" is in my explanation of the required term.

-> Thanks, Alex! Are you aware of any equivalent term for 'pavé'? I can't say I've ever come across one...
