French term or phrase: jouées en transparence
Hello,

I am having trouble coming up with a good translation for "jouées en transparence" in the following sentence referring to a lipstick:

"Les lèvres sont hydratées et lissées grâce à...et des teintes lumineuses jouées en transparence."

I thought perhaps "sheer effect" or "sheer illusion", or perhaps "barely there"? Or is this suggesting something different?

Many thanks for your help

teintes lumineuses jouées en transparence
a kaleidoscope of sheer tints

Explanation:
or an array of sheer tints

I think you need to get "jouées" in there as well - sort of "mix and match"/"playing around with colours" idea

I feel that you need to take 'teintes lumineuses jouées en transparence' as a whole, which is why I thought of glossy shades/colours.

If your not happy with that you might like to use the word "sheen".

Sheer really makes me think of tights! :-)

radiant shades worn for a transparent effect

Explanation:
Hello,

teintes lumineuses = radiant shades

There is a difference, imho, between "jouant en transparence avec" and "jouées en transparence."

jouant en transparence avec = giving transparency to (shining through, etc)

*jouées* en transparence* = worn (played with) for a transparent effect

I hope this helps.
