French to English translations [PRO]

French term or phrase: (coupe) aérienne
With reference to a hairstyle, I'm not sure whether 'aerienne' here means 'high' as in backcombed to make the hair higher, or whether it means 'full of volume', or just windswept and casual. Does anyone know for sure? I need an answer QUICKLY as the client wants this short translation back by 5pm!! The full sentence is as follows:

Aériennes, onduleuses, crantées, les coupes sont féminines, et les coiffages sublimés.

This seems to be pretty common. Not really a technical term, but it seems to mean the same thing as Phil's image links.

neutral  gallagy2: think this is far too vague and could mean lots of different styles and doesn't really describe style in photo of "aerienne"//just had another look at images for "bouncy" all long "big" hair not at all like this aérienne cut, high on top, short hair!!

Yes, Marie Claire link just home page which then has to be scrolled to beauté and cheveux but is same pic as posted in Phil's link of upwept/backcombed on top short sides cut.

neutral  philgoddard: I can't see anything in your references proving that this is the English equivalent - the Marie Claire link is to the magazine's homepage.

  -> Marie Claire photo shows same cut as one of pics but English ="air cut". I've trawled through lots of photos before coming to this conclusion, "fauxhawk" closest to pic of "aerienne". "Bouncy" way too vague
